Frequently Asked Questions

How effective is speech therapy for adults?

Speech therapy offers a wide range of benefits and opportunities. Many individuals may delay seeking support for voice, cognitive-communication, or swallowing difficulties, assuming it may be too late for intervention. At AG Therapy, I work with individuals across ages and at various stages of their journey, with an emphasis on that it’s never too late to make meaningful progress.

What are common signs that an teen/adult might need speech therapy?

  • Speaking softly or barely able to whisper

  • Rapid rate of speech with mumbling

  • Hoarseness, breathiness, or nasal and stuffy-sounding speech

  • Poor vocal quality

  • Decline in memory

  • Decline in ability to produce or understand language

  • Difficulty with non-speech movements such as sticking out the tongue

  • Difficulty chewing/eating due to weakness of tongue, lips, and mouth

  • Choking or coughing on food and drink

How are my therapy services different?

When I work with my clients, we don’t just practice skills in isolation. We practice the exact activities people want to get back to.

If something used to be easy and now feels overwhelming, therapy focuses on:

  • Breaking it down

  • Adding the right supports

  • Practicing real-life tasks until they feel manageable again
